FAYETTEVILLE — The Arkansas men's basketball coaching staff is coming together.

The Razorbacks announced the additions of assistants Chin Coleman and Chuck Martin to new head coach John Calipari's staff on Wednesday. The pair joins former Louisville coach Kenny Payne as announced members.

CBS Sports reported that Coleman and Martin would be following Calipari to Arkansas from Kentucky in April along with John's son, Brad Calipari, Bruiser Flint and Orlando Antigua, who has since taken an assistant job at Illinois.

Coleman and Martin signed three-year contracts that run through the 2026-27 season. Coleman, who has the title associate head coach, will be paid $700,000 annually and Martin will be paid $350,000 with the title of assistant coach.

Coleman’s contract includes a no-compete clause within the SEC. Calipari and Payne also signed contracts with no-compete clauses.

Coleman can receive up to $100,000 in annual bonuses — $50,000 for an NCAA Tournament appearance and $50,000 if the Razorbacks play in the Sweet 16. Martin can receive a $50,000 bonus if the team makes the NCAA Tournament.

The combined annual salary of Payne, Coleman and Martin at Arkansas will be $1.95 million. By comparison, the Razorbacks’ five-man staff in 2023-24 was paid a combined salary of $954,000.

Coleman had served as an assistant under Calipari at Kentucky since 2021 following a four-year stint with Illinois.

He was largely credited for developing Tyty Washington and Sahvir Wheeler at Kentucky and Ayo Dosunmu with the Fighting Illini. Coleman coached AAU basketball in his native Chicago and was once an assistant at Illinois-Chicago, where he oversaw a 12-win improvement from one season to the next while the Flames were still in the Horizon League.

Coleman played college basketball for Weber State and Lamar.

Martin was on Calipari’s staff this past season after stints with Indiana, South Carolina and Oregon following five years as Marist’s head coach. He also served as recruiting coordinator at Kentucky. The Wildcats had the top-ranked class in the country prior to Calipari’s departure for Arkansas.

Martin was on Calipari’s Memphis staff that went to the national championship game in 2009. He also had coaching stints at Seton Hall, Massachusetts, Drexel and St. John's.
