Taron Egerton tweets cryptic image to mark start of filming on Elton John biopic Rocketman

He's set to star as Elton John in a new biopic about the British hitmaker.

And on Wednesday, Taron Egerton signalled the start of production with a cryptic tweet

The British actor shared the image of a shadow of a man seemingly wearing a pair of enormous wings and added the caption: 'Here we go.#Rocketman @eltonofficial @ParamountPics.'

Egerton, 28, is re-teaming with his Eddie The Eagle director Dexter Fletcher for the film.

It will document the life of the singer and songwriter from youth as a student at the Royal Academy of Music to the start of his rock career in the 1970s and 80s.

It will also address his drug and alcohol addictions, subsequent recovery and his rise to international stardom.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Wednesday, Jamie Bell is set to join Egerton playing John's longtime collaborator Bernie Taupin.  

Rocketman is being produced by John and his husband David Furnish as well as Matthew Vaughn who directed Egerton in the Kingsman films. 

Egerton and John appeared together in Kingsman: The Golden Circle released in 2017.
