Members of the public will have a chance to clear out their medicine cabinets during a national drug takeback event Saturday.
The drug takeback, co-sponsored by local law enforcement and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, is an opportunity to dispose of expired, unused or unwanted prescription medications. Safe disposal helps ensure drugs are kept out of the environment and away from potential misuse.
Hours for Takeback Day are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Deputies will assist with the collection, which is free of charge.

Pills and patches are accepted but not liquids, needles or sharps.
During the most recent Takeback Day, held in October 2017, more than 4,000 law enforcement agencies participated nationwide at 5,321 sites, collecting 456 tons of unused and unwanted prescription medications.
