So far the film has been lauded by critics for Gaga's performance, and she is already tipped as a front-runner to win Best Actress at the 2019 Academy Awards.

Speaking to MailOnline at the film's London premiere on Thursday, Gaga gushed that Bradley is now a 'friend for life' and praised his ability to direct, write, sing and act.

'Bradley is a friend for life. Incredible human being. Not only did I make a great friend from this film, but I got to witness such a masterful artist,' she said.

'He is so incredible. He's a renaissance man. He directs, writes. He wrote songs for this film, sang live, directed, starred.'

The singer also discussed the Oscar buzz already surrounding the film, insisting that the 'real reward' for her is starring in the movie.

'That's very humbling but the rewards for me was making this movie with a wonderful director, a beautiful cast, the family that Bradley Cooper created, it's so authentic and real, we love each other so much. That’s the real reward for me,' she said.

Gaga added that she was surprised to end up in the film as she was so 'terrible' at auditions for roles in commercials that she gave it up to be a singer.

'I was terrible at auditions. I did them for commercials, to play extras. I was terrible at acting in auditions. So I gave up and went for as a singer/songwriter. So this is all very humbling,' she admitted.

In recent weeks Gaga has been travelling non-stop to promote her new film A Star Is Born, which co-stars and was directed by Bradley Cooper.

But despite being known for her incredible beauty, Gaga recently revealed that Bradley tried to ban her from wearing any makeup while on set, to add to the 'girl next door' vibe of her character.

Speaking on Friday's Graham Norton show she said: 'I tried to sneak some make-up in, but Bradley wouldn't go for it', before he explained his point, stating: 'It's how the character is and Lady Gaga is incredible.'
