The Gotham alum, 39, exclusively told Us Weekly how “humbling” it is raising her daughter Frances with husband Ben McKenzie. “Right when you think you’ve got it figured out, [she] is like, ‘No, no, no. Let me tell you something.’ And you kind of learn with them, and it just strips you down of all your defenses and you just kind of roll with it,” she explained at the Back in Gotham preview screening and discussion at The Paley Center for Media in New York City on Wednesday, December 12.

As for whether Baccarin and McKenzie, 40, hope to expand their brood, she’s not quite ready. “Ask me in five years,” she told Us, noting that the pair are focusing on their relationship amid busy schedules. “Honestly, these days, [date night is], like, a movie, a great meal, a nice conversation and connecting over just us.”

The Deadpool star, who also shares son Julius, 5, with ex-husband Austin Chick, previously opened up to Us about raising her little ones. “It’s an experience that is about watching a human being become a person. It’s really incredible and it makes you see the world through their eyes and I wish we lived in that world,” she gushed in June, adding that her marriage to The O.C. alum has helped her navigate the difficult parts of motherhood. “The bond between you really has to be strong in order to survive the trials and tribulations of being a parent. You have to have time for yourself. You become a better parent when you’re able to decompress and do things that you love as well.”

Gotham season 5 will premiere on Fox in 2019.
