With the hugely-anticipated Captain Marvel set to hit theaters in just over a month, star Brie Larson is continuing her rise to stardom by signing a two-film deal with Netflix. The streaming service has acquired the rights to Larson's Unicorn Store, which she will direct, as well as Lady Business that she is also set to star in and possibly direct. Unicorn Store is Larson's directorial debut, and is set to premiere on Netflix April 5th.

Larson's career took flight with Lenny Abrahamson's 2015 drama, Room. Her incredible performance earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress, not to mention paving the way for a promising career in the years ahead. Prior to her breakout, Larson appeared throughout a number of different films including Noah Baumbach's Greenberg, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Don Jon, and Short Term 12, and 21 Jump Street. But following Room, all bets were off as to where Larson's career could go.

She would go on star in the massive King Kong sequel, Kong: Skull Island, before finally joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the wonderful Captain Marvel. That being said, she's clearly not done with smaller, indie roles. In the coming months, fans will be able to see her in both blockbusters such as Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame as well as the aforementioned Unicorn Store on Netflix.

Unicorn Store is written by Samantha McIntyre and comes from A Star is Born producer Lynette Howell Taylor. The story centers around a young woman who moves back in with her parents but is suddenly given an invitation to a mysterious store that will make her question what it means to really grow up. Unicorn Store premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, and features the exciting cast of Larson, Joan Cusack, Bradley Whitford, Mamoudou Athie, Hamish Linklater, and Samuel L. Jackson. Sadly there is not yet a trailer for the upcoming film, but with the Netflix deal being officially finished - and the release date only about two months away - there should be some footage coming pretty soon.

If that movie alone wasn't enticing enough, Larson's other film Lady Business, also to be produced by Lynette Howell Taylor and her 51 Entertainment, is sure to make a splash when it hits. The film tells the story of two women who want to become entrepreneurs but struggle to do so because of their male-dominated world, therefore they come up with the ingenious plan of inventing a male partner to help them thrive.

Larson is joining an increasingly large team of fellow actors that are taking up the directing chair. Most notably, Bradley Cooper helmed the Oscar-nominated A Star is Born, which will surely make its mark at the upcoming Academy Awards. But regardless of Larson's future as a director, she has still undoubtedly paved a wonderful path for herself in the years ahead. She's proven herself time and time again as a talented actress, and will probably only continue to wow us in the years to come.

What's exciting about Larson's upcoming Netflix films is the possibility of creative freedom that the streaming service has allowed previous filmmakers. Especially with the quirky idea of both Unicorn Store and Lady Business, there's plenty of potential for what those films could be. It's impressive to see Larson tackling all of these smaller projects all the while having to handle the epic nature of the Marvel films. But she seems to have it all under control. Unicorn Store will hit Netflix on April 5th, but there is not yet an official release date for Lady Business. This news comes from Deadline.
