Harvey Weinstein's ex-wife Georgina Chapman is 'smitten' with Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody - two years after divorcing shamed movie mogul

  • British fashion designer Georgina Chapman reportedly with actor Adrien Brody
  • Pair said to have met at swimwear launch in Puerto Rico for Helena Christensen
  • New relationship comes as Harvey Weinstein prepares to stand trial in January

Harvey Weinstein's ex-wife Georgina Chapman is said to be 'smitten' in a new relationship - two years after she divorced the disgraced producer.

British fashion designer Georgina, 43, and Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody, 46, were set up by Danish model Helena Christensen in April, the Sun reported.

The pair, who had initially met through Weinstein, were introduced 'properly' at a swimwear launch in Puerto Rico, a source said, where they 'bonded over cocktails'.

A source said: 'Georgina and Adrien obviously initially met through Harvey, but met again properly in April. Helena had invited them both to her swimwear launch in Puerto Rico, and they bonded over cocktails against a backdrop of various beautiful beaches.

'Obviously it's still quite a new thing, but Adrien is smitten and Georgina is the happiest she's been in ages.

'She has had a torrid past couple of years, and finally feels ready to move on with her life. Her kids and family are all aware, and everyone whole-heartedly approves'.

The designer divorced Weinstein after ten years of marriage in 2017, when more than 90 women made accusations of sexual assault against the Hollywood mogul.

It was believed their divorce settlement was worth between £11.1 million ($15 million) and £14.8 million ($20million).

Chapman, who shares daughter India, nine, and son Dashiell, six, with Weinstein, last year told Vogue that she has 'moments of rage' about her estranged husband's behavior and now cries for the couple's two children.

'There was a part of me that was terribly naive - clearly, so naive,' Chapman said. 'I have moments of rage, I have moments of confusion, I have moments of disbelief!'

Her reported new partner won the Academy Award for Best Actor for Roman Polanski's The Pianist in 2003.

Brody, who was formerly a friend of Weinstein, also starred in the 2005 film King Kong and has appeared in the BBC One drama Peaky Blinders.

The news comes as Weinstein prepares to stand trial in January after his initial court date was delayed following revised charges of predatory sexual assault.

The movie mogul faced a Manhattan court in August to plead not guilty to an indictment that adds two new charges of predatory sexual assault to his upcoming New York trial.

The tweak to the case was intended to open the door for Sopranos actress Annabella Sciorra to testify against Weinstein in the trial which has now been delayed until early next year.

Weinstein has previously pleaded not guilty to charges accusing him of raping a woman in 2013 and performing a forcible sex act on a different woman in 2006.

Sciorra has claimed that Weinstein raped her inside her Manhattan apartment after she starred in a film for his movie studio in 1993.

Weinstein, who is free on $1 million bail, has denied all accusations of non-consensual sex.

Sciorra is not being added as a victim in the case because the alleged attack took place too long ago to be prosecuted under state law.

But prosecutors want to use her testimony to prove that Weinstein had a pattern of assaulting woman, which is key to proving predatory sexual assault.

This is the strongest charge against Weinstein and carries a life sentence if he is convicted.

The development caused Judge James Burke to delay the start of his trial until January 6.
