Peter Crouch said actor and former boxer and Hollywood movie star Mickey Rourke 'nearly killed' him in Miami.
The 38-year-old told ITV This Morning presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield about how his lads holiday in the US became too much for him.
He said: "It was while I was playing for England and Liverpool and after the 'robot dance'."
In the summer of 2006, the dad-of-four became a bit of an global star with his robotic-style dancing when celebrating a goal during the World Cup.
Peter said: "I saw Mickey Rourke in a nightclub and he saw me and said 'you're robot boy' and I said 'you're Mickey Rouke'.
"We had a great night, then we had a second night.
"Then there was a knock at the hotel room door and I looked at the lads and they were like 'get rid'."
Phil said: "So you didn't go on a third night?"
Peter said: "He wrote a letter and put it under the hotel door saying he wanted to go out again and take us all for a meal, but he was full on."
The former Liverpool player was on the sofa with Holly and Phil to promote his new book 'I, Robot: How to be a Footballer 2' which follows on from his first book with more funny stories from his life as a footballer.
