Yash Raj Films And Luv Films Come Together And Announce A Distribution Partnership

In 2012, friends Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg collaborated to launch the production house, Luv Films. After co-producing Ranjan’s hit film, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, in 2018, the company released Akiv Ali’s comedy De De Pyaar De, with actors Tabu and Ajay Devgn.

Earlier today, the company announced that it will be entering a distribution deal with Yash Raj Films for the worldwide distribution of its upcoming films. Co-produced with T-Series, Navjot Gulati’s Jai Mummy Di will be the first Luv Films production to be distributed by Yash Raj Films, one of India’s largest film production and distribution companies founded by the stalwart Yash Chopra in the 1970s. A family comedy, starring Sunny Singh, Sonnalli Seygall, Supriya Pathak and Poonam Dhillon, Jai Mummy Di is expected to see a January 17, 2020 release. After Luv Ranjan’s earlier 2011 film Pyaar ka Punchnama, Jai Mummy Di will be a screen reunion for actors Sunny Singh and Sonnalli Seygall.

Close on the heels of Jai, filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s Chhalaang (formerly known as Turram Khan) starring Nusrat Bharucha and Mehta’s Omerta actor and regular collaborator, Rajkumar Rao, is expected to release on January 31, 2020. The film is co-produced by Ajay Devgn.

The YRF-Luv Films collaboration will also the Valentines’ Day release of the T-Series and Luv Films co-production, Malang, which is directed by Mohit Suri and stars Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani and Kunal Kemmu.

“This distribution alliance is an exciting opportunity for us at Luv Films to significantly expand the reach of our content to a wider audience worldwide with one of the most significant and reputed players in the movie business,” said Garg.

Ranjan’s new film, scheduled to release in the Christmas of 2020, is also in the works.
