Ellen DeGeneres compares quarantining in her mansion to jail

Minnie Driver has slammed celebrities who have complained about coronavirus lockdown, saying “nobody wants to hear that!”

The British actor said that she was aware stars have been “really coming in for it” amid the pandemic, and has deliberately kept “really f***ing quiet” as a result.

“I’ve been watching [other celebrities] like, oh, no, don’t do that,” Driver told Vulture. “Just put up another awesome video of, you know, somebody doing something funny that will make people smile. That’s the extent of our duties right now. Don’t say anything about what you’re doing, because, oh my god. It’s bad right now.”

She continued: “That’s the kind of content that I want, myself, and that’s the kind of content I feel comfortable sharing. Anything that’s like, ‘You know, I’m just doing laps in my pool’ – nobody wants to hear that!

“Don’t say that you feel like you’re in jail. Don’t say anything. Just open a bottle of wine and wander around in your underwear like everybody else.”

A number of celebrities have sparked backlash for complaining about their circumstances in the last two months of Covid-19 quarantine.

In April, US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres compared being stuck in her home to being in jail, while Sam Smith posted images of themselves pretending to cry amid a self-described “meltdown”.
