Paul W.S. Anderson’s Monster Hunter is “Lawrence of Arabia…with monsters”

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

In an interview with Empire Magazine, director Paul W.S. Anderson (MORTAL KOMBAT, RESIDENT EVIL) had this to say about his upcoming live-action feature film adaptation of Capcom's MONSTER HUNTER games:

All our monsters are 50-60 feet tall. They're really amazing. We're building them in even more detail than the dinosaurs of Jurassic World…And they look even better, because we shot on real locations in South Africa and Namibia, which gives the animators something to really match into: real wind, real dust, real sun-flare. The monsters are the only CG thing in there…[it's] Lawrence of Arabia … but with monsters!

Here's the film's official synopsis:

A United Nations military team falls into a portal to an alternate world where hunters fight giant monsters. Two groups work together to defend the portal, thwarting monsters from entering and invading Earth.

Meanwhile, MONSTER HUNTER – starring Milla Jovovich, Tony Jaa, and Ron Perlman – is still planning to hack-and-slash theaters September 4th…but we'll keep you updated of any changes or delays.

So what do you guys think? Fans of the original game? If so, what're your feelings about the movie so far? Either way, sound off below!
