Dev Patel-starrer The Personal History of David Copperfield, directed by Armando Iannucci, will release in India on December 11. Based on the 1850 literary classic David Copperfield by Charles Dickens, the film has Dev Patel in the titular role. The film will be released in the country by PVR Pictures. It also stars Hugh Laurie, Tilda Swinton, Ben Whishaw and Benedict Wong.

WHEN WAS THE FILM RELEASED?

While The Personal History of David Copperfield is releasing in India on December 11, it was premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival. The film was theatrically released in the United Kingdom on January 24, 2020 and in the United States on August 28, 2020.

The comedy-drama revolves around Dickens’ iconic hero, setting sail on a path that sees him transitioning from a penniless orphan to a flourishing Victorian writer.

WHO IS DEV PATEL?

Dev Patel is a British actor first shot to fame for playing the character Anwar in the first two seasons of British teen-drama Skins. In 2009, the Academy Award-winning Slumdog Millionaire introduced him to mainstream audiences. He has appeared in films like Lion, Hotel Mumbai, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and The Man Who Knew Infinity, among others. He was last seen in Armando Iannucci's The Personal History of David Copperfield.
