Another Bones Star Has Landed A Big TV Gig, This Time In Christopher Meloni's SVU Spinoff

When one of your favorite TV shows goes off of the air after a long run, it always stings a bit to not be able to see the characters you loved in new adventures. This is why it's so nice when you can see the actors from that series again, especially if they get to be a part of something big that you'll likely be able to watch them on for a while. Such is now the case with Bones star Tamara Taylor, who's just signed up for a leading role on Christopher Meloni's new SVU spinoff, Law & Order: Organized Crime.

There have been several delays when it comes to getting Organized Crime set up, even though star Christopher Meloni has been on board to reprise his role as Elliot Stabler for almost a year. We've seen that production has really begun to heat up lately, though, and the casting of Bones' former Dr. Camille "Cam" Saroyan, Tamara Taylor, seems like more proof that the show will now be coming along sooner rather than later at this point. According to Deadline, Taylor has been tapped for a leading role in the spinoff, though we don't know anything about her character right now.

Tamara Taylor will also join Dylan McDermott (American Horror Story, Hollywood) with a starring role on Law & Order: Organized Crime, which will see Meloni's Stabler head up a new elite task force dedicated to shutting down New York City's most powerful crime syndicates one case at a time. Stabler will also be dealing with a major personal loss, and what he sees as his part in it, as he takes on this new challenge, and also tries to come to terms with the changes in policing since he left the Special Victims Unit.

While Taylor could be playing some big time mob boss lady (and I actually wouldn't mind that at all), I can't help but picture her as a fellow cop, and maybe even the woman whom Stabler has to report to as he runs his task force. Bones viewers know well how in control, commanding, but still caring and full of heart Cam was, so it's pretty easy to imagine that Taylor will bring similar skills to whatever part she'll be playing in Organized Crime.

Of course, Tamara Taylor isn't the only Bones cast member to have come back to TV in a major way since the series ended in 2017. Star David Boreanaz has been heading up SEAL Team for four seasons, having started on the series immediately after Bones ended, while Emily Deschanel took a two year break before signing on for a very different part in the TNT crime drama, Animal Kingdom.

Taylor hasn't exactly been absent from our TV screens for the past four years, though. She had an important part in the first season of the Netflix sci-fi series Altered Carbon, played a bad guy toward the end of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and had a starring role in another Netflix drama, October Faction, but that fantasy show (which was based on a comic book series) was cancelled after one season.

Millions of people were already looking forward to seeing Christopher Meloni as Elliot Stabler again in Law & Order: Organized Crime, and now there are probably millions more who will tune in to see Tamara Taylor back in action on a big broadcast network show. We don't know when Organized Crime will debut just yet, but it's thought that we'll see it by the end of the year.
