Powered by Reelgood

April showers bring May… new releases. That’s how the saying goes, right? With it being the first of the month this weekend, the floodgates open up as all your favorite streaming platforms, from Netflix to Hulu to Amazon Prime release a slew of new content, from original series to classic films. If you missed Christopher Nolan’s latest, HBO Max will premiere Tenet this Saturday. With dozens of titles to sift through, we here at Decider are happy to help you figure out what to watch this weekend and where to stream it.

New Movies and Shows to Stream This Weekend: The Innocent, Tenet and DuckTales

Netflix is, as always, crushing it with new limited series in every language, and our new obsession is The Innocent, based on American suspense writer Harlan Coben’s novel of the same name. If you want to settle in with the kids for something the whole family will enjoy, season 3 of DuckTales will be out this weekend on Disney+ and you can catch up on the adventures of Huey, Louie Dewey and Webby. And since Tenet was the talk of the pandemic, why not take this opportunity, as we sloooowly go back to life as usual, to finally watch it now that it’s come to HBO Max? If you need to be further convinced, here are some highlights from the great movies and shows now streaming we’ve listed below:

New on Netflix April 30: The Innocent

New on Netflix this weekend, The Innocent is the very definition of a must-binge show. Netflix’s latest limited series was produced in Spain and is a product of author Harlan Coben’s groundbreaking deal with Netflix that will see 14 of his popular books turned into series or films which will be produced in countries all around the world. The Innocent is the second of Coben’s works to get the Netflix treatment, and this 8-episode series stars on of Spain’s biggest actors, Mario Casas, as Matt, a man who accidentally kills someone while trying to break up a fight. After serving his time and starting life anew, a mysterious phone call to his wife upends his entire life.

New on HBO Max May 1: Tenet

Christopher Nolan definitely doesn’t want you to watch his not-exactly-time-travel movie Tenet on HBO Max. When Warner Bros. announced that the film would be released simultaneously in theaters and on the streamer, Nolan famously pooh-poohed the idea by saying, “Some of our industry’s biggest filmmakers and most important movie stars went to bed the night before thinking they were working for the greatest movie studio and woke up to find out they were working for the worst streaming service.” Nolan’s criticism led to the delay of Tenet‘s availability on HBO Max, but despite of all of that (or perhaps because of it), we’re encouraging you to immerse yourself in one of film’s most fascinating experiences of the year now that it has arrived, no matter how bittersweet that arrival is.

New on Disney+ April 30: DuckTales

New on Disney+ this weekend, we are thrilled for the arrival of season 3 of DuckTales. The real world may not have its own trillionaire yet, but in Duckburg, Scrooge McDuck is basically what you get when you combine Elon Musk with Jeff Bezos. He’s rich, I tell ya. Scrooge lives in McDuck Mansion with his nephew Donald Duck, and Donald’s nephews, Huey, Louie and Dewey, as well as his housekeeper and her granddaughter, Webby Vanderquack. (Gotta counter all that Big Duck Energy with a female presence). Together, they all have wild adventures. Season three, which is already out on the Disney Channel, comes to Disney+ this weekend and features the voice talents of David Tennant, Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz, and Kate Micucci, among others.
