CMNH Film Festival Focuses on People Acting to Save the Planet

Fri 10/1 @ 6:30PM

Sat 10/2 @ 2PM

It’s a crazy week for film festivals in northeast Ohio, with horror, documentaries and outdoor films on tap. The latter is being presented by the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, in a digestible one-evening dose at the museum’s Murch Auditorium at the 14th annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival.

There they’ll be showing a dozen short films from the South Yuba River Citizen League, with a focus on environmental activism and justice to encourage people to get involved by showing them the trails blazed by others. Topics include Great Lakes conservationists, urban beekeepers in Detroit, farmers in Alabama, wildlife conservation in Mozambique led by women, ocean plastic pollution, the practices of Native people in combating forest fires, and the roles young people and women are playing in protecting the environment.

Tickets are $16 for CMNH members, $20 for non-members.  There will be a cash bar and a raffle as well with doors opening at 5:30pm. Ticketholders can also choose a virtual option and those who attend in person will get a code for on-demand access for five days after October 1, so they can go online and re-watch films that inspired them.
