Johnny Depp will tour Europe in 2023 with The Hollywood Vampires - the band he formed 10 years ago with music luminaries Alice Cooper and Joe Perry.

Depp made the announcement following his win against ex-wife Amber Heard in his much-publicised defamation trial, after which he was awarded $US10 million.

The band - comprising Depp, Cooper, Perry and Tommy Henriksen - will begin its tour in Germany and Luxembourg in June next year.

“The Hollywood Vampires are BACK!! We’re coming to Germany and Luxembourg Summer 2023,” it said in an Instragram post on Thursday.

“Keep an eye out for more [dates] to come.”

In 2019, the band put out its latest album, Rise, after a self-titled album released in 2015.

Fans have expressed excitement about the “amazing” news.

“Oh what a beautiful sight to behold. The Hollywood Vampires reuniting,” one fan wrote.

“Amazing news, please add more dates,” another said.

“FINALLY I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS,” a fan said.

This is Depp’s newest venture since winning his defamation trial against former wife Amber Heard, 36.

Despite being preoccupied with the trial, Depp, 59, was seen in the UK as he waited for the verdict, performing on stage with friend Jeff Beck.

The duo performed a range of songs including Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On and John Lennon’s Isolation.

Heard was ordered to pay Depp more than $US10 million ($A14 million) after a jury found she defamed him in an article in which she portrayed herself as “a public figure representing domestic abuse”.

Following the trial, some Hollywood insiders pondered whether claims from Heard, raised during the court case, may have affected Depp’s future film career.

Last month, Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer said it was “unlikely” the actor would ever return to his iconic role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a potential sixth film in the franchise.

“Not at this point,” he said when asked about Depp. “The future is yet to be decided.”

However, earlier this month a former Disney executive said they believed Depp could stage a comeback.

“I absolutely believe post-verdict that Pirates is primed for rebooting with Johnny as Capt Jack back on board,” they told People magazine.

“There is just too much potential box-office treasure for a beloved character deeply embedded in the Disney culture.”

Depp hasn’t played the swashbuckling Sparrow since 2017, when he starred in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

The five films in the Pirates franchise starring Depp have brought in more the $4.5 billion worldwide.
