Viggo Mortensen leads a stellar cast in the trailer for Thirteen Lives. Directed by Ron Howard, Thirteen Lives tells an incredible true story, which is something the director has a penchant for, having helmed Apollo 13, Cinderella Man, and Rush. William Nicholson penned the screenplay, whose work also includes writing Gladiator and 2012's Les Misérables. Thirteen Lives also features a fantastic cast that sees Mortensen alongside Joel Edgerton, Colin Farrell, Tom Bateman, and Paul Gleeson.

Thirteen Lives looks to serve as a dramatic retelling of the actual events that transpired in 2018, capturing worldwide attention and bringing together thousands of people for an unprecedented rescue. The true story in Howard's film adaptation was chronicled in the 2021 documentary The Rescue from Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, the Academy Award-winning directors of Free Solo. Audiences can see the insurmountable odds faced by the rescuers when Thirteen Lives releases later this summer, starting with a limited theatrical run on July 29 before launching on Prime Video on August 5.
