The Sun also claim that the Hollywood star has had an influential role in selecting the director for the films. Gareth Edwards who directed 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is thought to be the director attached to the production.

A movie insider told the publication: “Scarlett has been in talks with the studio for months and made it clear that Gareth was her first choice to be the director. He wanted a big fee but has now signed. With him being her top pick, she is now far more interested in being part of the movie and her role as an actress and producer is justifiable.”

The film will be the seventh offering from the Jurassic World franchise and will also see Steven Spielberg serve as executive producer. The iconic moviemaker was the director behind the first-ever Jurassic Park movie back in 1993.

That film was followed by The Lost World: Jurassic Park in 1997 and Jurassic Park III in 2001. Then in 2015 the concept returned to the big screen with Jurassic World which was followed by 2018's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. The trilogy then wrapped up in 2022 with Jurassic World: Dominion.

The trio of updated films were a huge hit with movie fans and the final instalment even starred iconic actors from the original set of movies Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill. It is currently unclear where the plot will go with the new movie or how many instalments may be commissioned for the reboot.
