US manufacturer of solar racking systems GameChange Solar said on Wednesday that it had been selected to supply its trackers for over 500 MW of solar projects in two countries of Southern Africa.

All orders were for the company's Genius Tracker product.

GameChange Solar said its trackers were selected for three projects in South Africa -- one developed under the Risk Mitigation Independent Power Producer Program (RMIPPP) in Northern Cape and two private sector projects aimed at supplying solar power to mining operations in Northern Cape and Limpopo.

The supply order was rounded out with a project in Zimbabwe. The trackers there were ordered for phase 1 of the 185-MW Zimplats solar project, which is also a private sector initiative designed to power the Zimplats platinum mining operation.

The Zimplats scheme is expected to begin power production by the end of 2024, GameChange Solar said.
