A strong performance that adds to Divya Dutta's already impressive filmography, her portrayal of Soyarabai in Chhaava has garnered her extensive praise. In an interview, the actor was asked if she considers the film's record-breaking box office performance as a welcome victory for an industry beset by flop after disaster.

Divya Dutta's perpective on box office success

Dutta told HT City that she has always believed that as an actor, one does their job, and when a film does exceptionally well, it becomes a part of history. She goes on to say that she has been fortunate to be in Veer-Zaara (2004), Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013), Badlapur (2015), and now Chhaava. These are the kinds of films that stick with people; they become subconscious.

Addressing her limited screen time in Chhaava

Regarding her little screen time in the epic drama, she has been asked about it time and time again: there were parts cut, and Dutta is sure the creators had legitimate reasons. Much to her astonishment, a previously removed stunning scene ended itself and was released online. Presence of a role, however, is what matters most. "Aur thoda hona chahiye tha" means that the film was genuinely good.

The audience were unaware of the cut scenes, but they still like the character, so she is unaffected. Someone in Pune recently embraced me and exclaimed that they despised her onscreen, but she is absolutely stunning in person! The creators deserve credit for giving the character a powerful presence that stayed with viewers and that is the most enjoyable aspect.

OTTplay Awards 2025: Divya Dutta’s recognition

Meanwhile, at the recently held OTTPlay Awards 2025, Dutta was bestowed with Trailblazer of the Year (Female) for her performances in Sharmajee Ki Beti and Bandish Bandits Season 2. While receiving the trophy, the actor recalled, "Ever since I remember, when I was five, I would watch this Amitabh Bachchan film, and I would say, I want to belong to this world of movies."

The actor added, "I started daydreaming about being launched by a certain director. When you truly desire something with all your heart, the universe conspires to make it happen. So, I had already chosen my destination, and the path kept finding its way on its own. I just have to enjoy and find happiness in doing what I love the most, and I’m so glad I’m receiving this award."
