Once more there are a slew of people who think that driving a car after consuming alcohol or drugs is perfectly fine - but more fool them as once cause they end up not only out of pocket after being hit with fines, court costs and victim surcharges but they also lose their licence for a period of time.

The week in court the shortest time a motorist faces being kept off the road was 12 months after he was found in possession of cocaine and also had cocaine metabolite in his system. Another drink driver was hit with a 40-month ban.

Most unexpected driving offence this week saw an 89-year-old handed a fine and points for driving over the 30mph limit on Plymouth Road. Fortunately, due to mitigating circumstances, magistrates decided to let him keep his driving licence for the time being.
