The time for predictions is over, we now know who dies at the end of season 3 of “The White Lotus.”

Warning: spoilers ahead for season 3 of “The White Lotus.”

Rick Hatchett (Walton Goggins), Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood), and Jim Hollinger (Scott Glenn) didn’t survive the Sunday, April 6, finale.

Rick confronted Jim for the alleged murder of his father during the penultimate episode, but thought he’d finally put the past behind him when he returned to the White Lotus from Bangkok. But when Jim showed up during the finale and taunted Rick by insulting his late mother and telling him his father wasn’t worth missing, Rick fatally shot Jim.

As Jim died in his wife Sritala Hollinger’s (Lek Patravadi) arms, Sritala told Rick that Jim didn’t kill his father — he was his father.

There wasn’t much time for that realization to sink in, though, because Jim’s bodyguards started shooting at Rick and Chelsea. Chelsea got shot, and as Rick carried her lifeless body away from the fray, Gaitok (Tayme Thapthimthong) shot him from behind. Rick stumbled into a pond holding Chelsea, and the star-crossed lovers bled out side by side.

There was also a fakeout during the dramatic finale. Lochlan Ratliff (Sam Nivola) unwittingly drank the poisonous smoothie that his father, Timothy (Jason Isaacs), considered using to murder-suicide everyone in the family except Lochlan.

Timothy reconsidered the plan at the last second, but Lochlan drank the remnants of the piña colada from hell. He seemingly died by the pool, but later opened his eyes in his distraught father’s arms. The Ratliffs all left Thailand together, headed toward the uncertain future created by Timothy’s financial crimes.

While the “White Lotus” season 3 cast was tightlipped about the ending before the finale, Jon Gries, who plays Greg/Gary, gave one hint in The Hollywood Reporter’s oral history earlier this month.

“People are going to hate [‘The White Lotus’ creator] Mike White,” he teased.

The season 3 premiere opened with Belinda’s (Natasha Rothwell) son, Zion (Nicholas Duvernay), seeing a body floating facedown in a pond as gunshots rang out in the background. The rest of the season took place prior to the dramatic conclusion, leaving viewers to wonder who would eventually meet a grim fate.

Warning: spoilers ahead for seasons 1 and 2 of “The White Lotus.”

All seasons of “The White Lotus” have followed a similar formula. Season 1 began with Shane Patton (Jake Lacy) talking to a couple at the airport about a body being loaded onto their plane. That body turned out to be White Lotus hotel manager Armond (Murray Bartlett).

In season 2’s opening scene, Daphne Sullivan (Meghann Fahy) is taking a dip when she bumps into a dead body floating in the water. The corpse was none other than Jennifer Coolidge’s fan-favorite character, Tanya McQuoid.

Luckily for fans who can’t get enough of The White Lotus’ mysterious deaths and sharp social commentary, the HBO series has already been renewed for season 4. No details have been announced about the cast or location thus far, but Parade reported in February that sources said Egypt and Mexico have been thrown out as options.

Some fans have speculated that season 4 will depart from past installments’ sunny locales and take place in a snowy mountain resort. But executive producer David Bernad shot down that theory during an appearance on “The Bill Simmons Podcast.”

“Mike [White] does not like the cold, that is why we will never do it. I feel confident we will never do a season in the cold,” Bernad said.

All seasons of “The White Lotus” are available to stream on Max.
