The One Show's Alex Jones made 'undignified move' when she met Steven Spielberg
The One Show presenter Alex Jones was left red-faced after a hilarious encounter with Hollywood film legend Steven Spielberg. She laughed as she told the story of how they first met
Many people assume TV presenters are comfortable rubbing shoulders with celebrities, but The One Show's Alex Jones has revealed that's not always the case.
The 48-year-old presenter shared a humorous anecdote about encountering renowned director Steven Spielberg while on holiday. During an appearance on Alan Carr's Life's A Beach podcast, she recounted the tale of spotting Spielberg, known for directing iconic films like Jurassic Park and Schindler's List, while exploring Capri. Her confession left both Carr and herself in stitches.
Years ago, Jones was on a day trip to Capri from Sorrento when she noticed Spielberg sitting outside a hotel, writing. To prove her point to her now-husband, who initially dismissed her claims that it was him, Jones appeared to take a rather drastic measure.
She told Alan: "Well, I climbed the fence just to have a look. I did - I climbed the fence, and my foot got stuck in, you know the sort of hexagon-shaped kind of fence, and I couldn't.
"He turned around, and all he could see was somebody trying to get their foot out, and I had to get it out in the end, and leave my flip flop there, and just take my foot with me. It was undignified, Alan."
Jones had the podcast host in stitches with her side-splitting story, leading him to pop a burning question.
When quizzed about whether the Hollywood legend had ever graced The One Show, she confessed: "He did come on, but I didn't mention it.
"I thought he'd think 'what's this two penny show I'm on?' if I said that, so I didn't."
However, Carr claimed it would have been epic if he'd brought the flip flop for a "Cinderella moment". The presenter conceded it would have made for "great telly", and fans were buzzing about the podcast episode.
One listener gushed: "Lovely episode! After last week's, it was such a pleasure to listen to Alex and Alan this week."
Another teased: "Not the flip flop." Meanwhile, many simply shared their joy with a slew of laughing emojis, clearly tickled by the anecdote.
Believe it or not, Jones has been at the helm of The One Show since 2010, and her career has only soared higher and higher.
On the other hand, Alan Carr's Life's A Beach Podcast is hitting all the right notes with listeners, dropping a fresh episode every Monday. Fans can't get enough of the celeb-packed travel tales.
Each episode sees Carr and his guests talk about their jet-setting adventures and top holiday spots. You can find out more about it here.
