The Nibbies podcast is returning for 2025, which will once again feature authors shortlisted for this year’s British Book Awards. David Nicholls, Robert Macfarlane, Chris and Rosie Ramsey and Hafsah Faizal are among the authors appearing on this year’s edition of the podcast. Episodes will be released twice weekly over the next month in the run-up to awards on 12th May, which this year marks its 35th anniversary.
Hannah MacInnes returns as podcast host this year, alongside Sarah Gwonyoma. Episodes will feature conversations with the authors and illustrators about their entire publishing journey. Each episode of the podcast, produced by Heavy Entertainment, charts the journey from the author’s mind to the reader’s hands, as much-loved authors discuss behind-the-scenes details of their writing and publishing journeys. This series brings to life not just the Books of the Year, but also the teams and industry that supported and championed them.
MacInnes is a broadcaster, journalist and podcast host, and is the main host of the How to Academy’s live programmes and podcast, presents on Times Radio and interviews on-stage at a number of other major literary events. Before going freelance, she worked for eight years at BBC Newsnight, as planning editor and as a producer/filmmaker.
Gwonyoma is a writer and book critic, and is the founder of the online platform What Sarah Read Next. She writes book reviews and has interviewed an array of notable authors on literary circuit. Gwonyoma was also guest speaker at Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place Festival and has been interviewed about her life and work on various platforms, including Annie MacManus’ podcast Changes. She also runs a popular online book club called What We Read Next.
This series will also include a visit from Chris and Rosie Ramsey, plus a walk through nature with Robert Macfarlane and Isabella Tree, as well as crime-filled conversations with Nicci French and Abir Mukherjee. Other episodes this series will look at what makes great non-fiction, children’s books, and more.
Miriam Robinson of The British Book Awards said: "We are delighted to be bringing the Nibbies Podcast back for a second year, and to be working once again with Hannah and now Sarah too as our inimitable hosts. The Nibbies really does celebrate the full journey of a book, and in these short and delightful interviews, we get to hear from many of our shortlisted authors about their full experience, from their minds through to their publishing journey through to the moment where their books encounter readers in bookshops or on tour. They’re gorgeous episodes and we can’t wait for you to hear them."
The first episode launches today (10th April) and talks all things Writing Love Stories, featuring Musih Tedji Xaviere and David Nicholls. Listen here.
