Ever wondered what it's like to have your very famous mom and very famous stepdad divorce? It's a pretty rare occurrence, but Tallulah Willis—the youngest daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore—is no stranger to the concept. And, while commenting about blended families on Instagram, Tallulah made a rare reference to Ashton Kutcher (the famous stepdad in question).
Commenting under a post by Gwyneth Paltrow about the actor's own blended family with husband Brad Fulchuk, Tallulah wrote, “I have a lot to say on this! Especially how to move through an ex-step parent,” followed by a couple heart emojis. When another commenter asked if she was referring to Ashton, Tallulah responded, “This maybe should have been a private message lol.” She continued, “But yes I have personal experience with this.”
Tallulah, who was 11 when Ashton and Demi got married in 2005 (they divorced in 2013), continued in a few other comments, making clear she wasn't calling Ashton out in a negative way. “No one needs to be bad guy for a situation to be healed,” she wrote. “There's room for everyone.”
As for how she, personally, has navigated having an “ex-step parent,” Tallulah didn't elaborate. But, in a 2020 appearance on Marc Maron's WTF podcast, per People, Ashton seemed to imply that he still had a good relationship with all three of Demi's daughters, noting that he made a “conscious effort to stay in touch.” That said, he didn't elaborate too much on the extent of their relationship post-divorce. “If they don't want an engagement with me, I'm not going to force it upon them. But they all do, and it's great,” he said at the time.
Ashton aside, Tallulah also knows a thing or two about navigating embracing a step-mother and half-siblings. Her dad, Bruce, married Emma Henning Willis in 2009, and they have two children, Mabel and Evelyn. The entire family frequently pops up on social media with Tallulah, Demi, Rumer, and Scout—they even quarantined together in 2020. And just a month ago, Tallulah shared a photo of herself, Demi, Bruce, and Emma on Instagram, writing in part, “I love my parents, all three of them!”
