PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - This week’s Golden Apple Award winner connects with her students from AP English stories to real life lessons.

Accepting her third Golden Apple Award, North Bay Haven Charter Academy teacher, Robin Vaughn, said “Listen, I teach the most amazing scholars. I’m so proud of them and thankful and grateful that they did this.”

With almost 30 years teaching, and 10 at North Bay Haven, Ms. Vaughn said she always wanted to be a teacher and enjoys teaching advanced English classes.

“I just love the content, but it’s really the kids because I do teach juniors and seniors. They’re mature enough. We can talk about real life. It ties into lessons many times, but they are the ones who are going to change the future for us. I believe that, said Ms. Vaughn. “I get to know them. I know their hopes for the future, and I hopefully help them with some life lessons a little bit along the way.”

As her seniors get ready for their next adventure in life, she said, “I just really want to stress that part, that I’m blessed as a teacher at the stage and age that I am, especially to have such amazing young people in my life, that they truly do genuinely make me a better person and a better teacher.”

Congratulations, Ms. Vaughn!
