Eternals star consults 'magic eight ball' over potential return to MCU with Avengers: Doomsday

The Eternals movie became a confusing subject for Marvel fans after its performance seemed to not make as much noise as expected. With MCU returning to the Avengers, one star clears up their future.

The cast for Avengers: Doomsday may be far-reaching, but it is not all-encompassing as some major stars were left off the list.

However, Marvel is known to pull some tricks and fans are wondering if this could mean surprise appearances from actors. As a result, some MCU actors from further reaches of the storyline might have the chance to jump into the action. Sadly for fans of Eternals, Lauren Ridloff, who plays Mikkari, isn't confident that she'll be making a cameo.

When asked if the option was presented to her, she told The Direct at South by Southwest Film Festival, "I don't know, my magic eight ball is telling me 'Not likely.'"

Eternals was anticipated by fans as the next big move in the cinematic universe following Avengers: End Game, which many fans thought would be the end of the story for one of their favorite plot lines. However, the movie's November 2021 release was met with confusing mixed reviews, leaving its future for a return to the cinema in jeopardy.

It boasted a packed cast, including Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Barry Keoghan, Kumail Nanjiani, and Brian Tyree Henry. The movie's allure definitely dragged fans into watching, even during the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, though, its $402 million worldwide gross seemed a bit meager in comparison to the $200 million budget the movie was afforded

If Marvel were considering bringing back Eternals as a part of their franchise, Avengers: Doomsday would have been the opportunity to do so. After all, a sneak peek at the casting choices proved to fans that the story writers plan to intersect multiple parts of the beloved world.

After all, fans can expect to see some of the Avengers favorites join forces with the more classic X-men. Plus, it appears the Black Panther world will be making a return to the mix.

Of course, fans will also notice that, so far, Tom Holland was left off the plans, meaning Spider-Man likely won't be featured. There's also always the question of if Harry Styles will be appearing in the MCU after his post-credits cameo.
