Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case: The Saif Ali Khan stabbing case saw a new twist as the chargesheet filed by Mumbai Police revealed that the fingerprint samples collected from the Bollywood actor’s Bandra West flat did not match with those of the accused Shariful Islam, who is believed to be a Bangladeshi immigrant.
Saif Ali Khan was stabbed by an intruder at his Mumbai residence in the wee hours of January 16. It was reported that at around 2 AM, the actor heard noises when one of his female employees was attacked in Jeh’s room. This prompted Saif to intervene, which led to an altercation between the two and the attacker injured both Saif and the female employee.

Mohammad Shariful Islam has been accused of breaking into Saif’s Mumbai residence with the intent of robbing. He has also been accused of attacking the actor and his staff member using a wooden weapon and a blade. He has called the case against him “false" and appealed for bail.
However, the Mumbai Police revealed that 19 out of 20 samples sent to the state CID’s Fingerprint Bureau did not match with those of the accused. Notably, the only fingerprint that matched with the accused was the one recovered from the eighth floor of the building.
When Did Shariful Islam Reach Mumbai?
The Mumbai Police last week filed a chargesheet in the Metropolitan Magistrate Court in connection to the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case. The chargesheet, which is reportedly 1000 pages long, contains several pieces of evidence against the accused, Shariful Islam, including facial recognition test results, fingerprint reports, an identification parade report, and findings of the forensic lab.
The Mumbai Police in its chargesheet said that Islam was a Bangladeshi immigrant and found screenshots of several Bangladeshi documents on his mobile phone. Earlier investigations revealed he migrated to India and worked odd jobs to pay for his mother’s treatment back in Bangladesh.
Islam entered India illegally without a passport or any relevant documents, alleged the Mumbai Police. He lived in Kolkata for 15 days, where his maternal step-uncle currently lives. His uncle came to India at a young age, married an Indian woman and lived with his children there.
From Kolkata, Shariful Islam arrived in Mumbai via the Gitanjali Express about 8.5 months ago. The chargesheet revealed that Islam used to send money to his family in the neighbouring country illegally via his manager or supervisor Amit Pandey.
How Did The Stabbing Take Place?
Citing Kareena Kapoor’s statement, the chargesheet divulged details of the night when Saif Ali Khan was stabbed by an intruder, when her younger son Jehangir Khan’s nanny came screaming into their room at around 2 am, alerting them about a man in the child’s room with a knife demanding money.
As the couple rushed to his room, Saif held the man, but was stabbed multiple times in the neck, back and hands. Another nanny also suffered injuries while trying to help him. Meanwhile, Kareena asked the nanny to get Jeh out of the room quickly and ran to the 12th floor of their house with Taimur Khan, Jeh and the nanny.
Saif later came to the same floor with stabbing injuries and blood on his clothes. Kapoor asked the house help to rush him to the hospital. Saif and Taimur were taken to the Lilavati Hospital via an autorickshaw.
Kareena then contacted her sister Karisma Kapoor and manager Poonam Damania for help. Poonam’s husband Tejas Damania informed the police of the incident. Saif underwent a five-hour surgery to remove a piece of knife near his spine.
