Maine’s highest court denies appeal of Lincolnville man convicted of killing roommate
MAINE (WABI) - The Maine Supreme Judicial Court has upheld the conviction and sentence for a Lincolnville man who killed his friend and roommate in 2023.
49-year-old Matthew Pendleton was found guilty of manslaughter last year for the death of 47-year-old Kevin Curit.
Court documents show Pendleton sent multiple texts to his daughter including a photo that showed Curit laying on a doorstep seemingly dead or unconscious.
In his appeal, Pendleton claimed those text messages should not have been allowed to be used against him at trial.
He also appealed the admission of his daughter’s testimony about his alcohol abuse and allowing a jailhouse informant to testify.
Pendleton was sentenced to 14 years in prison.
