Make the most of this season season by binge watching some Christmas classics.

Winter is here and so is the holiday season. For most of us, who are swimming through the adult life, emphatically typing on computers in a temperature-moderated office, December calls for cosy post-office hours. Nights when we curl up in a blanket and sink into nostalgia with classic Christmas movies.

We will help you make the most of this month with some of the best Christmas-themed films. Here is our list:

1. Home Alone
Christmas and December itself are incomplete if you don't see eight-year-old Kevin protect his house from a pair of burglars. The Home Alone franchise has five films but it is the first and the original film, released in 1990, which is widely loved till date.

In the first film, Kevin, played by Kevin McCallister, is accidentally left by his family at their house on Christmas holiday. The next day, the eight-old-year wakes up in his big house all alone. Two thieves try to break into his house and the film shows how he eventually gets them arrested.

2 When the Grinch Stole The Christmas
Santa Claus may or may not visit every year, but Jim Carey and his film, When the Grinch Stole The Christmas, was an annual phenomenon, aired every year on television, as most of us remained glued to the screens to watch him. Once, every year, the actor would come to the screen and gift us with his amazing performance as The Grinch in Dr Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas. The film, which was released in 2000, catapult into one of the most iconic Christmas films.

A six-year-old girl, Cindy Lou, made Grinch believe in the festive spirit. Jim, in turn, made us believe that some characters are timeless.



3 A Christmas Carole
Jim Carey gave another memorable Christmas film to his fans with the 2009's A Christmas Carol. The film was based on Charles Dickens's 1843 novella of the same name. CBSE students would remember it as a play in 10th standard.



4 Ghosts of Girlfriends Past
Three ghosts of his past girlfriends visit him to make him realize his mistakes. The plot of the 2009 film was taken from Charles Dickens's novella A Christmas Carol. Rather than being centred around Christmas, the film revolves around a wedding. The heart of the film, however, remains true to the classic. Transforming the arrogant protagonist into a kinder, gentler person.



4 Polar Express
What's Christmas without an adventure ride to the North Pole? The 2004 animated film Polar Express remains close to every Christmas movie lovers' heart. The film stars Tom Hanks in lead role. He was also one of the executive producers of the film.



6 Love Actually:
What happens when you cast a romcom star in a film based on the holiday season? Sheer magic! And Hugh Grant's Love Actually is nothing short from that. The film, which also stars biggies like Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, Keira Knightley, Colin Firth and more, is the biggest holiday feast you can find in cinema. The film will make you laugh and cry at the same time and more than anything else, it will make you believe in destiny.



7 New Year's Eve:
Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Jon Bon Jovi, Robert De Niro, Zac Efron, Katherine Heigl, Ashton Kutcher, Seth Meyers, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jake T Austin, Til Schweiger, Sof­a Vergara and more. Tired yet? Well, that's some of the stars who featured in New Year's Eve. The film talks about different people who are battling with their respective issues. Eventually, all their problems are solved after the ball drops on New Year's night.

8 The Nightmare Before Christmas
The 1993 film is a Christmas classic. The film sees Jack, King of Halloween town kidnap Santa Claus. After a lot of ups and downs, Jack apologies to Santa. The Nightmare Before Christmas was both critically acclaimed and a box office success.



9 Rise Of The Guardians
The 2012 film is an animated fantasy film. It is about Santa Claus, Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, and the Sandman's quest to stop evil Pitch Black from overshadowing the world in darkness. They appoint Jack Frost to complete the task. The film gained critical acclaim but bombed at the box office. It, however, won a Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film.



10 Klaus
Klaus, 2019, is the latest addition to Christmas movies. The film is currently streaming on Netflix. It tells the tale of a rich brat named Jesper who has been sent to an island above the Arctic Circle to fend for himself. He ends up meeting Klaus who makes toys for kids. They spend Christmas giving toys to kids of the island. The film adds a new, refreshing flavour to the Christmas films. Its soul lies in its heartwarming story, making it one of the must-watch this season.
