It's time to travel to 1313 Mockingbird Lane with the first The Munsters trailer. Jeff Daniel Phillips is leading the cast of the horror-comedy revival as Herman Munster alongside Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily, Daniel Roebuck as Grandpa, Richard Brake, Sylvester McCoy, Jorge Garcia, Catherine Schell and Elvira actress Cassandra Peterson. Rob Zombie is at the helm for The Munsters while also writing and producing the film reboot.

Plot details for The Munsters movie are currently unknown, though the original series centered on the titular family of monsters as they adjust to living in an atypical American suburb. Development on the film was first announced in early 2021 when rumors began swirling that Zombie was adapting The Munsters for a movie, with the director himself confirming reports of his working on the movie a few months later. Filming on The Munsters kicked off in late October and with over half a year behind it, audiences are getting their first proper look at what's to come from Zombie's take on the franchise.

While the Munsters trailer may not offer much in the way of what's to come from the story of the film, it does offer a good look at Zombie's take on the sitcom. The trailer points towards the movie retaining the same zany sense of humor as its source material as Herman, Lily and Grandpa all make their way into their iconic house on Mockingbird Lane in a slapstick manner. The Munsters trailer also offers a glimpse of the film's more modern sensibility with Grandpa declaring "Now what" as the group simply sit on the couch, a more self-aware joke than previously seen in the show.

The biggest takeaway from The Munsters trailer is the confirmation that Zombie's film will be in color instead of the black-and-white format of the original show. Zombie has teased this approach to his movie with his various BTS image teases shared throughout The Munsters' production, most of which have been in color as they introduce new characters to the fold, though many original characters were kept in black and white, potentially hinting at the possibility the film may blend the two together. Only time will tell when The Munsters arrives from Universal 1440 Entertainment later this year.
