A MUM and daughter from Shoebury are set to star in Cash in the Attic, as the once-loved show is rebooted for a new Channel 5 series.

Jeanette Seagar, 59, and daughter Amber Rose Blyth, 29, admitted it is a dream come true to appear in the show, with their episode set to be aired at the start of August when the reboot replaces Neighbours in Channel 5’s schedule.

Although the pair cannot give away too many details before the show, jewellery and ornaments from their attic sold at auction for a “four-figure sum”.

They decided to apply after it was confirmed that the series would return to TVs after a ten-year break and Amber realised her mum had hoards of items stored in her attic.

The show - which helps people find hidden treasures in their home and sell them at action - initially aired on BBC One between 2002 and 2012, before being revived by Channel 5 this year.

Jeanette said: “We both thoroughly enjoyed filming and had so much fun.

“It was filmed at my home in North Shoebury for a couple of days.

“We came across so many old memories by rooting through our attic, so it was a pleasurable experience.

“We then drove up to the auction house in Oxford and experience a day at an auction, which was quite emotional seeing my past being sold in front of my very own eyes.

“However, we’ve made a four-figure sum, and managed to sell 19 of the 23 items we brought to auction.”

The new, revived Cash in the Attic is presented by Chris Kamara with an antique valuer alongside, Jessica Wall.

Jeanette added former footballer Chris Kamara was a joy to have in her home and provided non-stop entertainment.

She added: “Chris Kamara was so easy going and made us both feel comfortable.

“He made us laugh on and off camera.

“I am a fan of all antique programmes, so I do feel really lucky to have taken part in such an amazing show.

“It is an experience we will never forget and look forward to seeing it on TV.”
