Thor: Love and Thunder is now the least-rated Thor movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Rotten Tomatoes. The film’s overall ratings went down to 65% (at the time of writing), slightly below Thor: The Dark World’s aggregate. The latter is currently rated at 66% on the review aggregator website and, for a very long, was the least rated film not just in Thor Series but also in the entire shared continuity.

Currently, the lowest-rated film in the franchise is Eternals, with a “rotten” aggregation of 47%. Other Thor films in the franchise are rated relatively higher than Thor: Love and Thunder and Thor: Ragnarök. While the first Thor movie is rated 77%, Taika Waititi’s predecessor to Love and Thunder, Thor: Ragnarök, is one of the highest-rated films in the franchise, with 93% positive responses.

Thor: Love and Thunder have been well rewarded at the box office with more than $600 million worldwide gross earnings. However, the critical response to the film has been mixed. Christian Bale and Natalie Portman were outstandingly praised for their respective performances. The film’s colossal production scale and light-hearted comic nature were also commended. But, the film’s writing got some critical reviews as critics felt tonal inconsistencies in the screenplay, ultimately referring to the film as inferior to its predecessor.

Such responses are probably the reason for the film’s declining ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. The film has been reviewed based on 406 critical reviews. With more reviews still coming in, the ratings have little room for improvement. However, it’s unlikely that there will be any significant rise in the rating percentage, as the film is already nearing a month of its release.

Based on more than 10,000 verified ratings, Thor: Love and Thunder’s audience score is far better than its critical aggregate. The film’s Audience Score on the website is 77%. This means that the film’s humorous approach and writing have landed well with the fans and general public. Despite the lowest critical consensus, Eternals is rated at 78% by the audience, slightly above Thor: Love and Thunder. Captain Marvel, at 45%, is the least rated MCU film by the audience.
